Simple steps for Cover Letter Formation.


Remember a golden rule.A resume must be accompanied by a covering letter. A cover letter should complement, not duplicate, your resume. The puspose of a cover letter is to provide a brief introduction about you and your resume, in response to an advertised position or in antici -patin of a possible opening. A good cover letter effectively highlights your strengths and links your abilities directly to the needs of the employer, and therfore helps you to get na interview call. the following are the few hints that you should keep in mind while writing a cover letter.


There are three type of cover letters:
  • The application letter, whichresponds to a known job opening.
  • The prospecating letter, which about possible positions.
  • The networking letter, which requests information and assistance in your job search.


Before you send your cover letter, review the following checklist to make sure that.
  • The contact name and company name are correct.
  • The letter is addressed to an individual, if possible.
  • Letter mentions the position for which you are applying and where it was listed.
  • Your personal information (as mentioned above) is included and correct.
  • Cover letter is targeted to the position you are applying for.
  • Letter is focussed, concise(one page only), clear, and well organised.
  • If you have gap in your employment history, explain it in your cover letter.
  • Font should be 10 or 12points and easy to read.
  • There are no spelling, grammatical, or typographical errors.
  • You have read the cover letter out loud to make sure threr are no missing words.
  • The cover letter should be printed on good quality bond paper that matches your resume.
  • You have kept a copy for your records.
  • Letter is signed if you are mailing it.
